1 We start with 30 second-1 minute warm up poses.
2 Simply looking for the flow and rhythm of the pose . . .
3 Always pushing the pose while maintaining clarity

7 Too much emphasis on anatomy in these-
8 Starting to get some acting in here . . .
9 . . . and now some fun stuff!
10 All these were made from the same male model, using his pose as a springboard for character and story. Two minute poses.
Damn fine work! love the flow and weight in your posing.
ReplyDeleteOh man, these are great Matt. Great storytelling in these.
ReplyDeleteThanks you two! Good to hear from you. Kendra, the gesture studies you've been doing lately are full of life.
ReplyDeleteIt's always inspiring to see your newest story gestures!
ReplyDeleteI love all of these!! The acting/narrative sketches are particularly amazing.
ReplyDeleteMark & Megan- appreciated!
ReplyDeletewow...west coat models have zilch inhibition. over here, on the shadier side of the planet, our model keeps covering herself up and demonstrating her best "stick girl" poses. and our instructor doesn't wanna push as she's um, shy.
ReplyDeletei think i'd take a slightly tipsy naked barney rubble-esque fellow over "ms. modesty"to study. lots more to work with.
but as always, these are ridiculously inspiring and fluid and the lines are zingingly alive, even in the 30sec warm ups. ty for posting, matt! "-)
Ha! Funny comment Froggie-thanks. I hope you can find better models somewhere-is there a Dr Sketchy's event near you? They usually have models who know how to strike a pose. . .
ReplyDeleteDrawntabulous Matt! There are certainly getting livelier with each session you attend.
ReplyDeletegreat drawings
ReplyDeleteGreat loose drawings as always!! Love your stuff!
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome Matt! You really get the poses SO well. I always have trouble with putting in too much anatomy. Looking forward to taking Alex Woo's class someday. Thanks so much for putting these up. Very helpful to look at really good examples!
ReplyDeleteMikeS- thanks, I fee like I'm getting the hang of it- loosening up more each time
ReplyDeleteChroma & P.-Thanks for the support!
Julia-Thank you :) Alex is a good teacher-he's running classes in the city at the moment which have proven a success and I think he plans to do it again.
