Anrick at Unit 9 in London commissioned me last month to help design characters for Toshiba's new 'Leading Innovation' website.
It was a dream gig -I was asked to spend a couple of days sketching characters with good old pencil & paper while Anrick's crack squad of boffins & digital artists handled the rest! An enjoyable collaboration & the results look great-look at those gorgeous backgrounds.

Check out the website & draw squiggles on the characters to discover what they do-

The site is already generating media buzz here and here.

  2. Oooooooh! Beautiful. I'm just having fun with your little friend and they play like Tom Waits' band, not sure if I have to keep on drawing squiggles or pull out my alto sax.

  13. Hah! Jeroen you're funny-I kinda dug the website but that's probably the novelty of being involved. Didn't you find the music soothing?

I promoted your Ronald Searle Tribute blog on Dinosaurs & Robots. I think the readers there will really dig it.

  21. The second from the bottom is almost identical to a Scott Wills Samurai Jack painting from this post, but these are well done overall.

  22. Pumml-yes, looks like the bg painter has referenced Wills' mountains & colour palette for the far distance landscape-well spotted!

  23. Great work matt. did you work on some animation too? or just the designs?
It's a great concept for computer navigation interface. they should get rid of folders and instead we should have to fight or bribe this crazy animals to get our files back. much more fun.
    take care.

  24. Hah! Thnx Joan-you're right that would be a fun interface. I just did rough pencil designs for this project. The characters were finalised & coloured by the team at Unit 9.
