PICASSO & THE PASSION FOR DRAWING is a show due to finish soon at Musee Picasso. If the museum wasn't inspirational enough, this exhibition has on display half a dozen of his sketchbooks which are so full of images & multiple developments of ideas it was overwhelming. Everytime I go back to the man's work I find something new.
Picasso was so damn good cos he could do so many DIFFERENT things.

Personally I can't get enough of his cubist work.
I'm not so keen on the Cubist work. Much prefer the fun stuff he was doing in the Fifties - he always seems to be having a laugh (maybe not Guernica though!), especially his ceramic work. Some of the jugs & vases he turns into birds & women are just terrific. Painting fish on plates is a delightful joke if you've just eaten fish OFF it!

The way Picasso drew hands, faces & bodies is EXACTLY the way we do it today. All the little shortcuts came out of African art, channelled through Picasso & dispersed via Ronald Searle & UPA.
I know I stand alone. I haven't met anyone yet who loves his cubist work.
