Life Drawing Winter Term 2010

A new term of life drawing has begun and after a couple of months out of the life-class it's back to drawing off the rust. These are the strongest drawings out of 2 weeks of struggling. I enjoy the work-out though . . .

really nice Matt.

I love B07 a lot. It is really sculptural and feels very three dimensional. With the sharp angles, the drawing style seems very different from the more organic A01, would you say it is because of the tools you used or was it a deliberate choice?

Wonderful art. You are not afraid to emphasize curves which makes for outstanding figures. Nice to view your art.

Olivier, yes the different medium seems to dictate the approach to drawing. But also just searching around for different approaches to stay fresh-if a tonal study isn't going well I'll switch to a bolder line/contour drawing to access the right side of the brain thinking.

Terry-for me it's all about exaggerating the pose, simplifying & organizing the forms, using tone to clarify & define form

excellent stuff...as per normal Mr.Jonezz

wow. how do you exaggerate and simply the model like that? This is a style you cannot seem to learn by doing artist studies or copying the book on force. .

number 3...as in the third drawing. The thigh 'squiggle' for the protruding leg is AWESOME. I want thigh muscles.

Cheers Tomm.

David-years of practice!

Ash-sometimes the squiggles come out just right. Keep those squats up.
